Topic Research
The topic we picked that underlies our project is 'Collect and evaluate different projects or bilingual or multilingual experiences in Primary schools with ICT support'.
We felt it was necessary to conduct research to ensure we knew our topic in depth before beginning the project.
This research focused specifically on e-learning and its benefits.
E-learning or in other words, electronic learning, refers to learning that takes place on the internet. Mullamaa (2010) reveals that it complements traditional classroom teaching by providing access to resources, reducing paper usage, and promoting modern methodologies like individualisation.
The key benefits include fostering autonomy, motivation, and collaboration, which create a sense of belonging among learners. Tools like online dictionaries, and multimedia projects encourage cooperative learning.
Overall, e-learning empowers learners to take responsibility for their learning process, reinforcing the teacher's role as a supportive guide and facilitator rather than a controller. ICT not only facilitates language acquisition but also prepares students to engage thoughtfully with societal issues, fostering growth.
