Presentation of Bee-Bots
Today we presented the Bee-Bot activities from the week before. Our group met outside the seminars and collated activities within the theme of Pirates.
We created a Bee-Bot map that would allow children to manipulate their Bee-Bot through Pirate Islands in search for treasure. Their role is to follow compass directions provided by another group which served as clues to find the hidden treasure.
Within this seminar, we demonstrated its use, where one member (Lily) acted like the teacher and the other two (Noah and Carla) acted like the pupils.
The "teacher" had to practice simplifying language and instructions to a level that would be understandable for young learners.
Role playing a teaching scenario was highly beneficial because it allowed us to spot any errors within our lesson that could then be corrected before use within a classroom. It also allowed us to reflect on our teaching instruction and self-evaluate on how it could be improved.
Perhaps we will incorporate this into the planning of our learning situations.
